When the St. Maria Goretti Knights of Columbus Council 17889 began in 2022, both my husband, Justin, and I were eager to make connections in the parish, as we had just gotten married the previous summer and were new parishioners. My husband quickly joined the Knights and with his membership we had the opportunity to meet many individuals and families in the parish. Thanks to events that the Council continues to sponsor, such as pancake breakfasts and fish fries, I have been able to volunteer at those events, and, in the process, get to know others in the parish. This has led to creating a sense of community and belonging in the parish.
As my husband has continued to grow as a leader in the Council, he also continues to lead our family towards holiness and Heaven. The formation that the Knights of Columbus provide the men has inspired Justin to bring home a stronger prayer routine for himself and for our family. Praying the rosary is just one example of how the Knights has inspired our family in our commitment to prayer. I have been able to witness how the fraternity of other strong men, striving to be holy husbands and fathers in the Church, has allowed Justin to reflect on the ways that God is sanctifying him through his own vocation as a husband and father.
God has bestowed many graces on our family through Justin’s involvement in the Knights of Columbus. The world needs holy men, husbands, and fathers more than ever, and I believe that joining the Knights of Columbus provides many opportunities for the continued growth of faith and formation, not only to individual members, but to their families as well.
The Knights of Columbus Council is continuing to welcome new members who are looking to grow in fraternity, serve the community, and strengthen their Catholic faith. Membership is open to any man over age 18. If you are interested in joining, please email [email protected] or visit the pastorate website.
